Chakra meditation guided for positive energy: This five-minute simple chakra meditation is easy enough for those who are just starting to meditate but can also help those who are accustomed to more advanced meditation techniques. The purpose of this exercise is to balance the seven major chakras throughout your body. In addition to balancing your chakras a few additional benefits of quick meditation include, but are not limited to:

  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Increased focus
  • Controlling your heartbeat
  • Reduce your nervous system to a stressful situation
  • Increase blood flow and oxygen levels throughout your mind and body
  • Help relieve physical and emotional pain

Anyone new to this, the chakra is simply thought by many as the center of energy in the human body. This belief originated in ancient India and the word chakra comes from a Sanskrit word meaning "wheel".

The idea is that energy flows through these seven large anacondas that bring physical, emotional, and spiritual health and is good for those with well-balanced chakras. If one or more of these chakras are not properly aligned, your body, mind, and spirit will not function properly. This quick meditation can be used during your busy day to bring your energy centers (or chakras) back into a setting that allows you to be successful in whatever you do.

For any meditation, it is good to have a quiet, quiet place to relax and be comfortable. However this doesn’t always happen and I’ve used this meditation at the doctor’s office, my daughter’s softball games, in restaurants with people screaming ... You get the idea. Let's have fun!

First, take one minute and start breathing. Close your eyes and simply count each breath. Breathe out loud and let out your breath as you count "one". Take a deep breath, let go and count "two". As you reach four starts at the "one". Focus only on counting your spirit and gently clearing away any thoughts as they come into your mind. This is a simplified version for air counting and you need to do this for about 45 seconds to one minute.

You should already feel your body begin to relax as you focus on your breathing. Now we will work to increase your chakras, spending only 30 seconds each. As you focus on each chakra, think of a solid-colored disk (or wheel) in each area.

The first chakra, the Base or Root Chakra, is located near the base of your tail bone and is represented by a red color. As you breathe in, think of the red disk, or "wheel", that wraps around the bottom of your tail bone. You should be more relaxed and will want to spend more time on each chakra, but 30 seconds will work if that busy schedule allows.

The second chakra, the Sacral Chakra, is located about an inch below the navel and is represented by the color orange. At this point think of the orange disk that rotates the inches below your navel but above the first chakra. Gently remove any thoughts other than this rotating orange disk, breathing heavily but gently. Also, allow 30 seconds before proceeding.

The third chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra, is located at (you guessed it!) Your solar plexus, or just below your chest bone. The yellow color represents this chakra so imagine a bright yellow disc near your chest. As you do this briefly imagine the three of them circling together as if by a rope.

These first three chakras are associated and represent our physical body and our attachment and alignment with Mother Earth. In contrast, the upper three chakras align your mind with the higher spiritual mind. This is why the fourth chakra is considered to be the most important of the seven chakras by most people. The Heart Chakra exceeds the lower three by the upper three chakras and maintains an important balance between the two.

As you enter the Heart Chakra you feel your body begin to align and simply focus on your heart. Take a deep breath and concentrate around the green disc near your heart. With this chakra feel free to take a moment and embrace the transition from your physical needs to your spiritual desires. Most people have a hard time with this change, but with practice, it becomes easier.

To get out of your Heart Chakra, accept the transition from being a human being to a spiritual one. The following chakra is found in your throat and is represented by blue color. As you breathe deeply into the picture the blue disc surrounds your throat representing your Throat Chakra. Embrace peace as you prepare to move on to the sixth chakra.

Take a deep breath and head up to Your Third Chakra located in the center of your forehead. As you breathe in, think of the indigo-colored disc that surrounds just the surface of your eyes. Just focus on your spinning chakra and imagine it opening up and allowing energy to flow.

Now hover over your head, or your Crown Chakra, and visualize a bright violet disk. As you breathe and visualize the rotating disk you feel the chakra open and energy flowing through your body. At this point, you should have a feeling of increased energy and a sense of calm surrounding your body.

As you take this last breath you feel the energy flowing between your chakras and out with your Crown Chakra. Accept the feeling, not only of your body but of your surroundings.

This five-minute meditation can be done almost anywhere at any time to help increase energy while calming your mind and nerves.

Should a person take precautionary measures when performing chakra meditation? This method of meditation is often taught in the days of Yoga and Reiki. Chakra meditation focuses on the seven major chakras, from the root and working upwards towards the elbow.

Similar to Kundalini Yoga, this type of meditation can produce powerful energy channels that lift the spine, empowering the chakras along the way. While meditation on chakras can create feelings of happiness and awareness, there is controversy about its safety in certain situations.

Some meditation experts believe that a bad meditation experience is most likely if the thinking person is under a lot of stress, has long-term problems or memories of the past, or is performing a procedure without support and help from a qualified source. Fear of chakra meditation or negative expectations can also contribute to a bad experience.
